Downpipes play a crucial role in acceleration and power output. They act as the link between the turbocharger and the exhaust system. The larger the pipe diameter and the higher the flow rate, the easier it is for the turbocharger to expel the exhaust gases through the exhaust system. This has a positive effect on torque and power and also reduces the thermal load on the turbocharger and surrounding components.
