A diverter valve kit is basically a back-pressure bypass that ensures the boost pressure is not choked off when the throttle closes. The advantage of ours: the back pressure is diverted directly upstream of the throttle. Since the valve in our system sits after the intercooler, only cool air is recirculated. On many engines, the factory diverter valve is located before the intercooler, so only hot, uncooled air is recirculated. The factory valve is fitted directly in the turbocharger and, over time, constant exposure to heat usually damages it so badly that it starts to leak. A leaking valve leads to poorer response and power losses, which in most cases are not noticed immediately because the damage develops gradually rather than suddenly. As a result, you get used to the deteriorating response and the loss of power. With the conversion kit, the valve can be relocated to a cooler area, which in turn has the advantage that it no longer suffers heat-related damage and that cooler air is also returned to the intake system. The cooler the air, the higher the density of the intake air, and the higher the density, the better the cylinder filling, which also results in higher power. The silicone of the conversion kit can be supplied in blue, red or black, as preferred. Caution: not compatible with GFB diverter valves Note: please note that your intake pipe needs a connection spigot for the diverter valve return (as on our intakes) and that on vehicles without a sound booster, item HGPPVAGTP01-2 must also be purchased.
