This upgrade intercooler for the Audi A4/A5 B8 and A4/A5 B8.5 is a highlight of the HF-Series range. The high-quality HFT core has excellent cooling properties to deliver top performance even in poor conditions while being very robust. It is highly resistant and does not heat up as much itself as comparable cores from other manufacturers. At the same time, the entire system is also designed for the best possible flow. This means that the pressure loss is minimal and the entire charge-air path has been developed for optimum flow using CAD flow analyses. This also includes the end tanks, which are made of high-strength cast aluminium and feature our WAY FIN TECHNOLOGY. Technical details Core type: HFT End tanks: cast aluminium Incl. parts certificate for easy registration under §19.3 Direct comparison: OEM HF-Series Volume: 5.586 cm³ 14.520 cm³ The advantages of this product are: click on the image for a larger view. 1. Improved flow and even pressure distribution for maximum efficiency: with our WAY FIN TECHNOLOGY, a guide fin in the end tank gives even better flow and a more even pressure distribution through the entire core, achieving maximum efficiency. 2. Less pressure loss: to reach the programmed boost pressure, the turbocharger has to run at a higher speed when the pressure loss is greater. This results in a higher thermal load on the turbocharger and greater wear. 3. Cooler charge air: 4. Earlier response & improved power: (power differences after the third dyno run) What exactly does an upgrade intercooler do for you? To express the exact additional power of an intercooler in figures, many unknown factors have to be taken into account, such as: power variation from the factory, other hardware modifications and the software used for the measurement. This differs from vehicle to vehicle. As a rule of thumb, on tuned engines you can expect up to 5% - 10%. But what is at least as important: whether your engine is already optimised or is to remain standard in terms of software, you prevent a loss of power, especially at high outside temperatures, or even reaching the temperature protection stored in many ECUs, and can therefore always count on your engine’s full power. Recommendation: use our HF-Series intercoolers as a combination of hardware & software optimisation. Reducing the back pressure (relieving the turbocharger) and cooling the charge air (more oxygen in the combustion chamber + thermal relief) results in a performance tune that makes efficient use of the potential of any turbocharged engine. When you look into hardware or software tuning of your vehicle, you must not ignore the factor “boost pressure loss” either. If you increase your vehicle’s power with chip tuning, the boost pressure is also raised in 99% of cases. With the standard intercooler, the boost pressure loss rises exponentially. This means that the turbocharger has to work even harder, so the thermal load on the turbocharger rises and its service life falls, or it wears faster due to high speeds. With our HF-Series intercoolers we strike the perfect balance between cooling effect and boost pressure loss.
