The fifth-generation Mustang on the S197 platform was in its 2011 to 2014 model years the final evolution before the switch to independent rear suspension. There the eight-cylinder works behind a system laid out for the American market that comes across as far too quiet in Europe. The GRAIL valved exhaust system corrects this with a deep, gutsy foundation and makes the overrun of the V8 clearly audible again.
