On the facelift Golf 7 R a harder-edged rear valance meets a lot of dark surface. Unpolished stainless steel breaks that surface up deliberately and makes the outlets visible as an element in their own right. The GRAIL tailpipe set in stainless steel places four bright points against the dark diffuser of the later Golf 7 R.
