Bull-X produces downpipes at the highest level. Like this Bull-X downpipe with 89mm upper section, for all VAG 1.8/2.0 T(F)SI models with the “1K” platform. Would you like to get more power from your turbocharged engine and at the same time take the strain off your turbocharger and the surrounding components? Downpipes play a key role in pulling power and performance. They are the “link” between the turbocharger and the exhaust system. The larger the diameter of the downpipe and the higher the flow capacity of the catalytic converter, the more easily the turbocharger can discharge the spent exhaust gases through the exhaust system. This has a positive effect on torque and power. The higher flow capacity produces a “deep and gutsy” sound. This downpipe is perfectly suited to both stock and tuned vehicles. Fitting it results in a power gain, better response and lower exhaust gas temperatures. Note: for manual gearbox cars, we also recommend selecting the optional torque mount. Caution: this is not suitable for vehicles with DSG! The advantages at a glance: - more power, resulting from the turbocharger being able to discharge the exhaust gases more easily - more torque, because the turbocharger’s exhaust turbine reaches higher speeds faster, as the sports cat allows a greater exhaust gas mass to be discharged (lower exhaust back pressure) - reduced thermal load on the turbocharger and surrounding components thanks to the flow-optimised design with a larger cross-section - no flow-impeding steps at the downpipe inlet thanks to the cast stainless steel flange used - Pipe diameter: upper section 3.5"/89mm and lower section 3"/76mm - *optionally without catalytic converter, incl. 100-cell sports cat, incl. 200-cell sports cat, with Bull-X 200-cell EOBD sports cat by HJS or with 200-cell HJS sports catalytic converter incl. ECE operating licence - perfect compensation of engine rocking movements thanks to the flex pipe with interlock technology used here (150mm long flex pipe whose interlock construction prevents the braiding from collapsing, provides additional stability and optimises exhaust gas flow) - made of brushed stainless steel and TIG-welded - incl. adapter to the original exhaust system After fitting the downpipe, the tolerance value of the post-cat oxygen sensor usually needs to be adjusted, unless a variant including an operating licence is selected. Not approved under the StVZO without ECE catalytic converters! If a catalytic converter variant without ECE approval is selected, the following applies to this item: This item is not approved for use on public roads - For racing purposes only! CAUTION! All catalytic converters/cat replacement pipes offered, except the EC-tested catalytic converter from HJS, are not approved under the German road traffic regulations! Only with the EC catalytic converter may you legally drive your vehicle on public roads. The use of all other catalytic converters is intended for racing purposes only. If, despite our notice, you fit a downpipe with a catalytic converter WITHOUT EC approval, you are committing a criminal offence. Possible consequences include: invalidation of the operating licence, decommissioning of the vehicle, a complaint for tax evasion, and possible investigations by the environmental authority. Catalytic converter information If you select a downpipe without a cat or with a 100/200-cell cat, the control unit may log an error message from the post-cat lambda sensor; this does not restrict driving, as the first lambda sensor is still there for engine management. The post-cat sensor is only responsible for monitoring the cat’s effectiveness. This can be programmed out by a chip tuner by adapting the software. Most vehicles up to the Euro 3 emissions standard have no post-cat oxygen sensor, and installation is possible without further adaptation and without error messages. The washcoat content of HJS ECE and EOBD cats is significantly higher and is characterised by a very high oxygen storage capacity, which means error messages can be avoided. The EOBD cats have been tested for this up to Euro 4. Durability and use up to the Euro 6 emissions standard are of course guaranteed. On Euro 5/6 vehicles, the points mentioned above can only be avoided if a cat with ECE approval is selected.
